After being named the number one Employee Recommended Workplace among small private employers by the Globe and Mail and Morneau Shepell in 2017, we were delighted to once again be named an Employee Recommended Workplace in 2018. Along with 52 other outstanding Canadian workplaces, this award recognizes our ongoing commitment to creating and growing a positive workplace culture.

The Employee Recommended Workplace Award recognizes excellence in achieving a healthy, engaged, and productive workforce by looking at four components of health – physical, mental, work, and life – and their impact on engagement and productivity. It is the only award of its kind based entirely on feedback from employees. We’re so pleased to know that our employees value the workplace culture we’ve worked so hard to build and maintain over the years.

Yesterday, the Globe and Mail brought together HR professionals, business owners, people managers, and workplace health experts for a half-day of networking and learning. We heard from three fabulous panels who shared tips and practical strategies for some of the most pressing issues facing employers today. They spoke about mental health, building employee resiliency, employee engagement, and so much more. It was really inspiring to hear about all of the amazing programs taking place across Canada.

I was fortunate to be part of one of the panels which was comprised of leaders at companies that were Employee Recommended Workplaces in 2017. We shared some of our key strategies for employee wellness, productivity, and engagement, and the lessons we learned along the way to hopefully help attendees go home with ideas they could put into place right away. Stay tuned for a future blog post where I share some of the SW&A ideas!

Over the next year, and the coming thirty years, Sklar Wilton is aiming to be a permanent member of the Employee Recommended Workplace club. When we create learning and growth opportunities for our SWANs, we know those programs help them personally. But those programs also help them provide the personalized and focused care our clients love so much. Having happier and more engaged employees creates better outcomes for our clients too. It’s really a win win situation.
