COVID-19 may have disrupted the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada’s (LLSC) traditional fundraising tactics but it hasn’t disrupted their long-term goal: to help find a cure for blood cancer and improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.

This year, the LLSC has demonstrated just how creative they can get with small, medium, and large-scale events that will spread joy across Canada and engage our virtually connected community. Not only will this approach help people practice physical distancing, it will also allow the LLSC team to engage with people who might normally be too far away or unable to participate in local Light the Night walks or gatherings. The regional borders of fundraising efforts are opening up!

Leading up to the grand finale, a virtual walk on October 24th, LLSC’s national fundraising campaigns kicks off on August 13 at 7pm with their Virtually Together Event, a fantastic, family friendly night of laughter and inspiration hosted by Herbie Kuhn, the voice of the Toronto Raptors.

The evening will include:

General admission for the event starts at just $25 and everyone is invited to participate. Click here to register!

In addition, companies are invited to support the event as bronze, silver, gold, and platinum partners. We’re delighted that Sobeys, Canada’s Family Grocery Store, has already signed up as a Silver sponsor!

As we do every year, the entire team at Sklar Wilton & Associates will be supporting the LLSC. Over 16 years, we’ve helped raise more than $341,000 for the LLSC and COVID-19 isn’t going to stop us from increasing that number!

Our LLSC team, led by Laarni Paras and supported by Jillaine Yee, Heather Young-Timmins, and Jennifer Marley, has lots of fun activities lined up to engage our team. We’ve got virtual beer tastings, yoga classes, trivia nights, Mexican lunches, a silent auction, and much more planned. And, together with Logit Group, whose team is led by Lillian Misheal, our corporate teams will engage in some friendly competition throughout the season. It’s a great way to have some fun while supporting the LLSC.

If you’re able to contribute, donations can be made here. We are grateful for any support you can offer to the LLSC to help find a cure for blood cancers.
