Lessons on how to live your archetype.

At EIM we often spend time commenting on salacious and often controversial newsmakers.

This week we’re elevating our little blog to a more refreshing level by setting our sites on Taylor Swift.  Smart, sweet, talented…she is the sparkly bright side of today’s Millennials. This week she became the only artist in history to have sold more than a million albums in a week on three separate occasions, she gave Spotify the finger and made tap shorts a bona fide fashion item.  This country girl has successfully reinvented herself into a true pop princess.

We believe her success is built on a foundation of mega talent wrapped up in a very clear archetype:  The Innocent.  This archetype is all about ‘Free to be you and me’, getting to paradise, being happy, doing the right thing, faith and optimism.  Joining the ranks of Coca Cola and Disney, you couldn’t make up a better fit if you tried.    And if we were more cynical we’d think this was all perfectly planned…

And Taylor has a great lesson for us:  identify and live your archetype.  Be rooted in your own identity, live your passion and don’t listen to what others tell you to do (just “shake it off”).

It’s easy to get dragged into the depths of Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Tim Tebow and Rob Ford.  Once in a while it’s nice to come up for air and celebrate the high ground.
