We are thrilled to share that Barb Paszyn, Director at SW&A, has been named on the 2020 GRIT Future List, an awards program by Greenbook that recognizes leadership, professional growth, personal integrity, and a passion for excellence in the next generation of insights creators, users, and marketers.
As a Mixed Methods Research Director, Barb fully appreciates and leverages both quantitative and qualitative research. By fusing a range of methodologies, including advanced analytics (e.g., TURF, Driver Analysis), she conducts creative and effective research studies that use the most appropriate methodologies, not just the more familiar ones. She manages projects, moderates online communities and in-depth-interviews, analyzes complex data, and presents actionable insights using storytelling and advanced analytics. Barb is a Certified Analytics and Insights Professional (CAIP), and holds a Graduate Certification with honours from the Georgian College Research Analyst Program (RAP).
More than that, Barb always seeks to be the best researcher she can be. She has received the Environics Award of Excellence in Social Research, the 2019 QRCA Young Professionals Grant, and was a 2020 QRCA Qually Award Finalist.
At SW&A, she played a pivotal role in developing, testing, and launching three new proprietary tools called Qual Express, Quant Express and Investigate Ideas. These tools have already been used with great success on numerous projects. And, Barb leads the internal annual Engagement Survey which guides resource and business planning to help ensure our associates are mentally and physically well. These efforts have supported us in being named the #1 Workplace in Canada three times in the last three years.
We’re also very proud of Barb for taking the initiative to start the first Women In Research (WIRe) chapter in Canada. Barb’s WIRe team finds excellent speakers, venues, and sponsors so that anyone can attend the events for free. The events have been a huge success!
What does Barb think of this newest achievement?
“It’s exciting to be included in this talented group of GFL honorees! As a multi-method researcher myself, I hope to inspire others in marketing research to also become experts in multiple areas. Every researcher is a unique professional who creates their own strategic tool kit to help guide their clients. By always innovating and evolving, I’ve packed my tool kit with qualitative and quantitative research, as well as advanced analytics. I hope to continue being an example of someone who pushes the bar to learn and evolve even if it means playing devil’s advocate!”
Congratulations, Barb. We’re so proud of you!
